It should be natural, and that's how I like women to look. I like them to feel comfortable and look organic. Even Michelangelo got paid for doing the Sistine Chapel. To those artists who say they're doing it for the love of art, I say: Get real. I've treated the waistcoat as if it were a corset, so that it becomes the first layer in the process of putting clothes on the body. There is constant motion between layering and revealing.

Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it. Sometimes the simplest things are the most profound.

Ordered list example

  1. Money doesn't buy elegance. You can take an inexpensive sheath, add a pretty scarf, gray shoes, and a wonderful bag, and it will always be elegant. I love a black wedding dress.
  2. My job is to bring out in people what they wouldn't dare do themselves.
  3. Don't dress to kill, dress to survive. People said making clothes inside out was not proper.
  4. I disagreed, because clothes that are inside out are as beautiful as a cathedral.

Unordered list example

  • When I was young, I lived like an old woman, and when I got old, I had to live like a young person. I think God is the most fantastic designer.
  • Women are more sure of themselves today. They don't have to emulate the way men dress.
  • I sometimes feel that a pattern is almost a fashion statement in itself.
  • I've always tried to push myself technically and to push myself visually. That's been part of the journey.

I never like to think that I design for a particular person. I design for the woman I wanted to be, the woman I used to be, and - to some degree - the woman I'm still a little piece of. Brides today are increasingly sensitive to the tastes, feelings and finances of their attendants. It should be natural, and that's how I like women to look.
